Eat & Drink
Favorite restaurant:
Akbar Cuisine of India
44 N. Fair Oaks, Pasadena, CA 91103
My go-to spot when I want to treat myself.
La Serenata de Garibaldi
1842 E. First St. L.A., CA 90033
The best Mexican in Los Angeles.
Best deal restaurant:
Palms Thai (Singing Thai Elvis)
5900 Hollywood Blvd., Suite B, L.A., CA 90028
Favorite sandwich
Pastrami from Langer’s Delicatessen
704 S. Alvarado St., L.A., CA 90057
Favorite lunch:
Burrito, side of spicy veggies, and a soda from Lupe’s, a taco truck that parks outside our studio.
Favorite cafe:
Groundwork Coffee Company
Various locations.
Great-tasting coffee without artificial favoring, some of which is organically grown co-op coffee.
Best street food:
Mario’s taco truck on Overland Blvd between Venice and Palms
The bacon-wrapped hot dog vendors that post up right outside your favorite night spot. I have seen girls who don’t eat meat succumb to temptation and inhale one of these tidbits of love after catching a whiff of the sizzling onions and bacon. The next morning they deny the whole thing.
Sightsee

A thing only locals do:
Chill out under the Hollywood sign, drink a six-pack, and then hit up a nightspot in Hollywood.

Best touristy thing to do:
Disneyland at night.
The must-see thing in your city:
The view from the Griffith Observatory, where a famous scene from James Dean’s Rebel Without a Cause was shot.

I’d have to agree - the Reuben that I had at Langer’s back around the new year was off the hook.
Am looking forward to being back out there to visit Sweet Ricky Jenik sometime this year.
