Experience the Spoils of our mutually artificial and natural existence through the eyes of installation artist Kate Casanova at LPR’s Gallery Bar. Her biomorphic pieces, consisting of faux luxury materials and egg shaped objects, are beautiful yet look like slightly grotesque organisms. Like the worms in science class that had you thinking, ‘Ew’ and ‘I wanna touch!’ at the same time, Casanova’s plush organ-shaped pieces in Spoils, formed in various states of growth and decay, stir the urge to both caress and cringe, placing one in the position between attraction and slight repulsion (but closer to attraction).
