Mass Human Formation photography

Way before Spencer Tunick was shooting groups of naked people, photographer Arthur Mole was shooting mass human formations with an 11x14. A bunch of the patriotic, World-War-One-era photos can be seen here, along with the work of more modern imitators. The technique seems popular among the military.
