People think Pro-Tec only makes kid-friendly skateboard helmets. After trying out this Pro-Tec Vigilante model helmet, it was cool to do some research and find out they actually make really amazing tech helmets for snowboarding and biking at reasonable prices. This one, the Andreas Wiig signature (snowboard) model retails for about $200, and comes with a BOA fit system - where you twist one knob on the back of the thing which tightens EVERYTHING into place. Simply genius. The ear pads (with a plug-in chord which you can hook up to an mp3 player) are Plantronics Audio Force ear pads, and they’re detachable. There’s also a goggle shelf which keeps stuff in place when out on the slopes. Overall I am most impressed by how the helmet fits - the BOA system hugs the back of my head snugly while not feeling overly tight, which I feel is the problem with most helmets I’ve run in the past. If you have a friend riding around town on a bike (or someone who frequently snowboards) without a helmet on, invest in their safety and get them one of these.
